We are often inclined to make a difference in the world and strive to be part of something greater. To this extent, in an industry which can be very difficult, multiple organisations have been founded with the purpose of helping young designers find their true calling. Graduate Fashion Week is a nonprofit organisation founded in 1991 by Jeff Banks CBE, Vanessa Denza MBE and John Walford. It intends to unify both UK and international universities and create a stronghold for the creative industries. It represents the future of creative design talent, showcasing the work of the best graduates from the most influential universities around the world. As an unrivalled platform for the promotion of new talent, the organisation aims to be the link between students and employment.
32 schools were present for the annual Graduate Fashion Week event. Participants included FAD International Academy from India, Fu Jen Catholic University from Taiwan, Bunka Fashion College from Japan, Sichuan Fine Arts Institute from China, Istituto Marangoni from Milan and Paris, and Northumbria University from Newcastle. The International Catwalk Competition was sponsored by Swarovski making it the largest show in the competition's history.

London is the perfect place to express your creativity, and is where one of the leading schools, Istituto Marangoni London, is offering its expertise to students from around the world. This year, for their graduation fashion show, ten graduates from this school showcased their collections at the grand Christ Church, Spitalfields. Amongst the ten students who participated in the show was Ece Sahin, who was awarded 'Designer of the Year'. Each year, students come from all over the world including cities such as Milan, Paris, Shanghai, Shenzhen, Mumbai and Tokyo. The industry of fashion and design is heading towards a more rewarding and accomplished future for those who invest their passion into it.
